Iowa has received a $6.6 million federal grant to provide early childhood support and home visits to families, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced Tuesday. Iowa was among 10 states to receive a share of nearly $72 million in awards through the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Visiting Program created by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The grants were made to states that are currently operating or that are developing early childhood systems for pregnant women, parents, caregivers and children from birth to 8 years of age.
