Summit Carbon Solutions is partnering with Saint Ansgar-based Absolute Energy as it expands its network of ethanol plants that it partners with for its carbon capture and storage project. Lee Blank, Summit Carbon CEO, said Absolute Energy “shares our aspiration to fortify the long-term sustainability and prosperity of U.S. agriculture by championing a decarbonization supply chain for their ethanol.” Rick Schwarck, CEO of Absolute Energy, said the company’s location, combined with “our earnest endeavor to curtail greenhouse gas emissions, finds a parallel mission with Summit Carbon Solutions.” Summit is developing a carbon capture and storage project that when complete will sequester up to 18 million tons of carbon dioxide each year. The project extends through Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota and North Dakota. Summit Carbon’s partnership with Absolute Energy will result in the removal and storage of 370,000 metric tons of CO2 per year.
