Tech giants question cost of MidAmerican’s $3.9 billion wind, solar plan
Des Moines Register: MidAmerican Energy’s commitment to renewable energy is one of the things that has drawn Facebook, Google and Microsoft to build data centers in Iowa. But now the tech giants are raising questions about a MidAmerican plan to invest another $3.9 billion to further enhance its wind, solar and other renewable energy sources, asking whether the project is reasonable and necessary or a money grab, regulatory filings show. Google and Facebook filed their concerns, which Microsoft later joined, in MidAmerican’s advanced ratemaking case.
