At the event, The Directors Council will launch its 2024 African American Leadership Guide to Public Service, which features information geared toward future leaders about the opportunities at all levels of government. The event will also feature a leadership panel and Q&A session aimed at celebrating the growth and impact of Black leadership in the community. Panelists include Mary Wells, Polk County treasurer; state Rep. Ako Abdul-Samad; Malcolm Hankins, Polk County assistant city manager; state Rep. Eddie Andrews; Kameron Middlebrooks, Iowa state organizer for Reform Alliance; and Joseph Jones, Windsor Heights city council member. The event will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the C3 Center, located at 1910 Ingersoll Ave.
