The Mutual Group, a West Des Moines-based insurance provider serving the mutual industry, announced the appointment of Brett Humphrey as senior vice president and chief financial officer. Humphrey brings nearly 20 years of global financial services leadership experience to the Mutual Group. Previously, Humphrey held various senior positions during his nine-year tenure at American International Group in New York and Japan, most recently as vice president of separation finance. Humphrey joined AIG from Aegon Sony Life Insurance, where he was head of actuarial and finance. He also served as chief financial officer at Hartford Life Japan. Humphrey earned an MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, as well as dual bachelor’s degrees from the University of Utah. “Brett’s strong track record of success in both growing organizations and operational excellence makes him a great addition to The Mutual Group leadership team,” Tim Fleming, CEO of the Mutual Group, said in a prepared statement.
