More than 7,300 start-up companies from all 50 states so far have joined the Startup America Partnership (www.s.co), a network that provides online and local resources and connections to help young companies grow. Iowa start-up companies became eligible to join Startup America when Startup Iowa was launched in December 2011. Businesses that register for the free membership are eligible for discounts from Startup America partner companies in areas including accounting, creative help, marketing, legal help and hardware/software. A for-profit start-up company can qualify if it has at least two founders or employees and was founded in 2006 or later, or if it has at least six founders or employees and was started in 2001 or later.
