Tippie College of Business adds grad insurance certificate
The University of Iowa’s Tippie College of Business is offering a new certificate program to help working professionals who want to advance in their careers in the field of risk management and insurance. The four-class program can be taken fully online and can be completed within 12 months. It can also be embedded as part of the Iowa MBA program. Applications are open to any one who has a bachelor’s degree and 18 months of professional experience. “Students in the risk management and insurance certificate program will gain an understanding of the unique landscape of insurance along with the ability to make strategic recommendations that will help their employers avoid undue risk,” Thomas Berry-Stoelzle, professor of finance and director of the risk management and insurance major, said in a prepared statement. He added that the classes are designed for people who work in the insurance industry but have no background in insurance or finance and want to get up to speed, people who work for insurance companies but not in a risk management capacity and want to understand the industry better, and people who work outside the industry and are looking for a career change. More details about the certificate are available here.
