The Center on Sustainable Communities (COSC) has chosen Aaron Todd as its new executive director, the organization announced today. Todd, formerly executive officer of the Rebuild Iowa Office, worked with numerous flood-impacted communities to develop sustainable recovery plans and authored legislation that provides guidance for sustainable community planning statewide. He is the founding president of 6th Avenue Corridor Inc., a nonprofit organization that seeks to revitalize a historic commercial district in north Des Moines. The Sioux City native has a bachelor’s degree in community and regional planning from Iowa State University and a master’s in public policy from Rutgers. COSC, co-founded by departing Executive Director Lynnae Hentzen in 2005, serves as an educational resource for sustainable building. An open house event is scheduled for May 18 from 4 to 6 p.m.at the recently renovated Historic City Hall, 137 Fifth St. in West Des Moines.
