Des Moines Register: The Iowa Department of Natural Resources has found trace amounts of chemicals in three shallow wells and finished water belonging to West Des Moines Water Works. According to a Wednesday news release, the amount of the chemicals, called per- and polyfluoroalkyl, or PFAS, found was a “fraction” of the threshold for health concerns. The threshold for concern for two of the compounds is generally considered to be 70 parts per trillion. Levels in West Des Moines were found to be just 2.9 and 2.4 parts per trillion.
