Transportation commission approves 5-year improvement program
The Iowa Transportation Commission has approved the Fiscal Year 2012-2016 Iowa Transportation Improvement Program. The program is designed to reflect the state’s multimodal transportation system through inclusion of investments in aviation, transit, railroads, trails and highways. A major component of the program is the highway section, which forecasts $2.3 billion to be available for investment in Iowa highways, with the primary objective being to modernize the system.
