Hotel Grinnell in Grinnell and the Highlander Hotel in Iowa City have been awarded Targeted Small Business certificates by the Iowa Economic Development Authority, the agency announced in a release. The two businesses are the only ones in the lodging category to receive the certificate. Iowa has more than 800 targeted small businesses. The designation allows businesses to receive resources to help overcome hurdles in starting and growing a small business in Iowa. Businesses majority owned, operated and managed by a woman, minority, disabled veteran or a person with disabilities are eligible for the program. The two hotels are owned and operated by Angela Harrington, Catalyst Development’s CEO.
