The University of Iowa John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center has partnered with the Tippie College of Business Institute for International Business for the eighth time to host the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders. The flagship initiative of the United States government’s Young African Leaders Initiative, the fellowship brings together 25 fellows from 20 sub-Saharan African countries. The fellows, aged 25 to 35, are accomplished innovators and leaders in their respective nations. They arrived on campus on Wednesday and will spend six weeks participating in various activities. The centerpiece of their experience will be Venture School, a program that offers practical training, mentorship opportunities and validation of their business ideas. Additionally, they will receive training on leadership, networking, entrepreneurship in Iowa, and managing growth and change.
