UNI, Kirkwood to compete in Sam’s Club challenge
Students from the University of Northern Iowa and Kirkwood Community College will be among eight college teams nationwide to compete Friday — Earth Day — in the Sam’s Club & SIFE Environmental Sustainability Challenge. The teams, chosen from among hundreds of SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise) clubs across the country, worked with local Sam’s Club stores to develop a sustainability business plan and received $1,000 to implement it with a Sam’s Club small business member. On Friday, the teams will compete for the grand prize of $5,000, chosen by Sam’s Club executives.
