United Way Day of Action scheduled Thursday
Tomorrow is United Way of Central Iowa’s annual Day of Action. Forty-four companies plan to send a total of 1,900 volunteers into the community to participate in 85 projects. The signature event for this year’s Day of Action is “Read to Learn,” in which nearly 300 volunteers will be paired with students at 10 elementary schools. Each volunteer will be paired with a student to read the book “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs,” followed by a literacy activity.
