University Research Overview:

Every day, the professors and researchers at Iowa’s colleges and universities go to work on a series of projects and research efforts. Their work often gains high-praise within the educational community and in educational journals, but isn’t always highlighted within the business community. As our state’s universities continue to make efforts to better entwine with the business community, we thought we’d spend some time spotlighting an array of research that could be utilized by businesses now or in the future.

Our Method:

We sent our four staff writers out to track down interesting research from four of Iowa’s Universities; Iowa State University, Drake University, University of Northern Iowa and University of Iowa.

The Results:

Our staff wrote four executive summaries that describe the research and provide insight into how the research they each learned about could be utilized in business.

Research included:

The skills your employees lack
3-D prototyping makes it easy
Getting extra mileage from your team
Time to go global
The jobs you need to fill
Firing on all cylinders

Conclusion:

In the end, we know these executive summaries won’t be complete enough for you to make a business decision, implementation or investment without further inquiry. They are exactly what we call them: summaries. But, we do hope these pieces provide a spark of an idea that you could explore further if you wish in an effort to improve your business. From time to time, you’ll see us deploy this same strategy in the future to call attention to the work being conducted at our state’s universities.
