The Urbandale Chamber of Commerce announced its 2024 Young Professional of the Year and Citizen of the Year honorees. Daycen Douglass, assistant financial planner for AO Wealth Advisory, has received the 2024 Urbandale Young Professional of the Year honor celebrating exceptional leadership and dedication. Douglass was recognized for his work in revamping the mentorship program at genYP, the chamber’s young professionals community, and participating on the genYP Civic Committee, where he worked to increase donations to the Urbandale Food Pantry. Urbandale’s 2024 Citizen of the Year is Jim Epstein. He was recognized for his community service, including involvement with Urbandale Community Action Network, the Lions Club and St. Pius X Church. He joined the Urbandale Lions Club in 2006 and has since organized events supporting local nonprofits. He has helped to address food insecurity by securing grants for food distribution programs, handling food rescue operations from local grocery stores and recruiting volunteers for programs supporting food-insecure children. Douglass and Epstein will be honored at the annual Sample Urbandale, A Celebration of Business event on Sept. 12.
