According to the USO, the Camp Dodge center will be its first in Iowa and will officially open on Nov. 2. In the summer of 2018, USO of Illinois staff helped bring the USO Mobile Unit and a USO2GO kit to Camp Dodge to serve the military members drilling at the base. Due to the overwhelming positive response, USO has made it their mission for the last year to open a full-time center at Camp Dodge to support Iowa military and those drilling at Camp Dodge, the organization said in a news release. “Our USO centers are the heart and hub of our organization,” said Chris Miller, center operations and programs manager. “We are extending our reach to soldiers here that otherwise would not have a place to relax and enjoy a home away from home experience while training.”
