The city of West Des Moines and the Historic Valley Junction Foundation have received Main Street Iowa’s Signature Project Award for the CoSign project that brought together local business owners with artists and professional sign fabricators last year to create unique signage in designated business districts. Work in Valley Junction also was in the spotlight for reaching the $50 million benchmark for private investments in the purchase and revitalization of properties within its commercial district. In all, Main Street Iowa gave special recognition to 18 projects out of 117 nominations. Projects in Ames, Avoca, Belle Plaine, Cedar Rapids, Fort Madison, Greenfield, Manning, Marshalltown, Marion, Mount Vernon, Washington and Woodbine also were highlighted during an awards ceremony April 13. Click here for more information about the awards.
