Vertrue representative testifies in court
Bruce Douglas, general manager of Adaptive Marketing, a subsidiary of Vertrue Inc., testified in a Polk County District Court hearing on Tuesday.
Polk County District Judge Robert Hutchison ruled in March that Vertrue and subsidies Adaptive Marketing and Idaptive Marketing were liable for violating
Iowa’s buying club memberships law and the Iowa Consumer Fraud Act, saying that virtually all member consumers didn’t know how they became members.
The ruling followed a consumer fraud lawsuit filed by Attorney General Tom Miller in 2006.
Douglas on Tuesday testified that his company had halted all marketing in Iowa and reformed it’s marketing in other states, as part of the remedies phase of the 2006 lawsuit.
