Waukee added 4,155 residents between 2010 and 2015, according to the results of the city’s special census, boosting the official population to 17,945, a 30 percent increase from 13,790 in 2010. In 2005, Waukee had a population of 9,108. “These results are right on trend with what we predicted based on the record-breaking building permit numbers we saw in 2015,” said Waukee Development Services Director Brad Deets. “In fact, the new housing numbers in Waukee have increased tremendously since the last census as well. There have been 1,714 housing units added since 2010. That’s a nearly 32 percent increase over five years, which is very exciting.”
