The city of West Des Moines will begin a major reconstruction project on Eighth Street between Center Street and Clegg Road during the 2023 construction season. To minimize traffic disruption, sections of Eighth Street will be closed in stages from north to south. The contractor will be making much-needed improvements, including installing new storm sewer structures and pipes, modifying watermains, paving the street to improve safety, and installing traffic signal upgrades. The project is expected to be completed by December. The first closure will be the intersection of Eighth Street and Center Street, including the eastbound Interstate 235 on-and-off ramps, from April 14 to 17.
