Billy Weathers, co-founder, CEO and president of the B.Well Foundation, has been awarded the 2024 Peter Capell Award for Midwestern Creativity and Entrepreneurship from Arts Midwest and the Iowa Arts Council. A press release said Weathers — a hip-hop artist, creative director and advocate — has dedicated his career to empowering Des Moines’ youths and creatives. The award recognizes his contributions to supporting students, artists and underserved communities. Weathers has driven change through programs like Creative Coaches Clubs, which pairs students with local artist mentors; Art for All, which transforms school spaces into sensory-friendly environments; and LongShots, a celebration of community through basketball, art and music.
