Wellmark Foundation’s BlueCare Giving generates $1.8 million for Iowa nonprofits

116 wordsAll Latest News, Arts and Culture, Health and WellnessMore than 570 Iowa nonprofit organizations received $1.8 million in funding this year through the Wellmark Foundation BlueCare Giving program. The foundation said today in a release that Wellmark employees logged nearly 38,000 volunteer hours with qualified nonprofit organizations. Through the BluesCare Giving program, Wellmark employees who volunteer their time have the opportunity to choose a nonprofit organization to be the recipient of matching gifts from the foundation, which resulted in contributions of more than $1.8 million to nonprofit organizations across the state. The top five recipients of funds from the program were: Variety – the Children’s Charity; Iowa State University Foundation; United Way of Central Iowa; Animal Rescue League-Des Moines; and Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
