A groundbreaking ceremony for the new Wellmark YMCA will be held this afternoon in the former Polk County Convention Center at 501 Grand Ave at 1:30 p.m. The $30 million project was made possible through a property swap between Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Polk County and the YMCA of Greater Des Moines.
