The charitable arm of Wells Fargo recently announced it’s giving $325,000 in new grants to five Central Iowa nonprofits to support initiatives addressing regional needs linked to financial health, housing and small business, according to a news release. The grant recipients are Homeward Iowa, Iowa Community Capital, Lutheran Services in Iowa, Oakridge Neighborhood and Polk County Housing Trust Fund.

Here is how the nonprofits plan to use the grants:

• Homeward Iowa: To support the nonprofit’s Centralized Intake and Diversion program, which helps people with an immediate housing crisis to identify and access alternatives to homelessness or rapidly resolve their occurrence of homelessness.
• Iowa Community Capital: To help fund microfinance programs that provide low-interest loans to entrepreneurs who earn low-to-moderate incomes and helps low-income Iowans with disabilities purchase assistive technology.
• Lutheran Services in Iowa: To support financial coaching to entrepreneurs who earn low-to-moderate incomes, including entrepreneurs who are immigrants or refugees.
• Oakridge Neighborhood: To support the Financial Empowerment and Pathways to Homeownership program, which offers culturally relevant financial education covering mortgage processes, alternative financing, investment options, banking and saving.
• Polk County Housing Trust Fund: Assists the program Stable Steady Strong, which helps Polk County families secure safe and stable homes.
