After receiving more than 34,000 signatures, a petition to secure funding and begin construction on the Death Star, was denied by the White House.

“The Administration shares your desire for job creation and a strong national defense, but a Death Star isn’t on the horizon,” writes Paul Shawcross, chief of the science and space branch at the White House Office of Management and Budget.

Reasons the White House had to deny the request include: the Obama administration does not support blowing up planets and the $850,000,000,000,000,000 estimated price .

“We’re working hard to reduce the deficit, not expand it. A petition that reaches 25,000 signatures on the White House’s We The People website receives an official response. Read more about the petition on the Washington Post.
