Wind energy produces business growth, study says
Iowa’s wind power supply chain comprises 80 Iowa companies and more than 2,300 employees in manufacturing, and the state ranks second in the nation in total wind energy generation, according to a study released today by the Environmental Law and Policy Center.
The report said a commitment to business development combined with tax incentives, a skilled work force and a central location have helped make Iowa a leader, and identified more than 30 additional Iowa companies that could supply the wind industry if demand increased.
“Smart policies can bring more wind business to Iowa,” said Howard Learner, executive director of the center, in a press release. “That’s good for both economic growth and better environmental quality.”
