Women in Manufacturing Association eyes Iowa chapter

169 wordsAll Latest News, Manufacturing, Women’s and Gender IssuesThe Women in Manufacturing Association has announced the election of 22 members to its 2022 board of directors, who begin their terms on April 1. Based in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, the national association is dedicated to supporting, promoting and inspiring women who have chosen a career in the manufacturing sector. The WiM board will be led by Virginia Harn, a principal with CliftonLarsonAllen LLP in Minneapolis; a complete list of new board members can be found at this link. The association, which began in 2010 as Women in Metalforming, now has more than 12,000 individual members representing more than 2,000 manufacturing companies from 48 U.S. states and from 35 countries. By region, the largest portion of its membership, 40%, is from Midwest states. As of January, WiM had an active network of 30 chapters, among them chapters in Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska and Wisconsin. A spokeswoman said that WiM has nearly 200 members in Iowa currently, and hopes to develop an Iowa chapter within the next one to two years.
