The students come from Drake University, Claremont Graduate University in California, Iowa State University, Grand View University and Des Moines Area Community College, a news release said. In the internship program, undergraduate and graduate students will explore global issues like food insecurity and sustainability and work on projects focused on awards management, youth programming and archival research. Each student will be paired with a mentor during their internship. “During this internship, I aim to strengthen my global communication and event management skills by creating spaces that unite diverse voices to address real-world issues like food insecurity,” said Amy Taylor, an incoming intern, in a prepared statement. Since the program started in 2001, the foundation has welcomed more than 400 students from around the country.
