Wright Service Corp. awarded tax refund from IDEA

Wright Service Corp., which plans on building a new corporate headquarters in West Des Moines, was awarded a tax refund of up to $661,523 through the Iowa Economic Development Authority’s high-quality jobs program.

The award was made during a recent IDEA board meeting.

Wright Service Corp., parent company of Wright Tree Service and other related businesses, plans to construct an 80,000-square-foot headquarters on about 27 acres near Southeast Willow Creek Drive and Veterans Parkway in West Des Moines. The project, which is expected to be completed by November 2021, is valued at $23.5 million, according to documents submitted to the state.

Wright Service Corp. bought the farm ground in August for $3 million from Hurd Land Company LLC.

In addition to the tax refund, Wright Service’s will receive a tax increment financing rebate totaling $1.2 million from West Des Moines, state documents show.

Wright Service’s headquarters currently is located at 5930 Grand Ave., West Des Moines.

The company employees 146 people, state documents show. Thirteen additional jobs will be created when the new headquarters opens including three that will pay $31.13 an hour, state documents show.
