Wyffels Hybrids recently opened its new warehouse and distribution center in Ames, where it will employ more than 200 full-time employees.

The facility is located on 150 acres east of Ames. According to a news release, the facility will bring the company’s products closer to customers in Iowa, South Dakota and Minnesota.
The facility opened on July 10 after 15 months of construction.

The opening of the Ames center marked “a tremendous milestone in our ongoing 78-year journey as a third-generation family owned and led business,” Wyffels’ President John Wyffels said in the release. “For 11 consecutive years, corn growers are planting more acres to Wyffels than ever before. This is evidence our purpose of serving the American family farmer is both important and increasing in urgency.”

The facility, which opened July 10, also includes research and agronomy test sites, with future expansion to include seed corn production, enhanced research and corn breeding functions, as well as meeting and training resources.

“This Iowa site is another example of our firm commitment to the seed business for another generation,” Wyffels said.
