175 wordsAll Latest News, Arts and CulturexBk Live, a Des Moines music venue, has announced the launch of a 12-month Creative Entrepreneurship Program to help local performing artists, musicians and songwriters start new businesses. The program will launch in February 2025 and host a monthly class on business topics. The program will also offer mentorship and networking opportunities tailored toward the creative industry. Additionally, xBk has partnered with the Iowa Center for Economic Success and U.S. Bank to offer microloans, which will provide starting capital for select participants to help implement their business plans and cover a portion of initial startup costs. “Supporting our local creative community is at the heart of our mission,” Tobi Parks, owner of xBk, said in a prepared statement. “We believe that with the right support, local artists can build sustainable businesses that contribute to the vibrant culture of our city. This program is a step toward fostering that growth.” The monthly classes are open to the public, but participants must attend all 12 to be eligible for microloan funding. Registration for the program is available here.
