YMCA and community partners to celebrate the legacy of MLK on federal holiday

128 wordsAll Latest News, Arts and Culture, Diversity, Equity and InclusionThe YMCA of Greater Des Moines and a coalition of community partners are celebrating the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. with its annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Prayer Breakfast, presented by Nationwide. The breakfast will be Jan. 16 beginning at 7:30 a.m. at the Knapp Center at Drake University. The breakfast will conclude with the presentation of the Make a Difference Awards, recognizing individuals for their work to advance opportunity and build a stronger, more inclusive community. Individual tickets for the event are $50 and are available online at DMYMCA. There will be opportunities for members to speak up on any challenges they have been facing with the state. While all are welcome to speak on issues, registration is required prior to the event.
