The YMCA of Greater Des Moines has hired former Ohio State University swim coach Bill Wadley to direct the Y’s Des Moines-area youth competitive swimming program. Wadley, who has coached Big 10 and national champions and 16 Olympians, will supervise programs at six local Y’s and the joint team composed of top area swimmers. Wadley’s Ohio State teams went 245-45 from 1989 to 2017. He won Big 10 and USA Nationals championships in a career of nearly 40 years. He coached 60 swimmers to individual Big 10 titles and 15 set national records. 
Wadley coached teams in the Goodwill Games, the World University Games and the Pan Am Games. He is a past president of the American Swimming Coaches Association and a former Big 10 Coach of the Year.
