YSS announces Rooftop Garden program

88 wordsAll Latest News, Arts and Culture, Nonprofits and PhilanthropyYSS will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday to introduce Rooftop Gardens, a new initiative providing paid apprenticeship opportunities to youths who are at risk of experiencing homelessness. YSS Rooftop Gardens features six hydroponic farms in a new greenhouse where youths will complete their six-month apprenticeships. The program aims to reduce employment barriers for at-risk youths while promoting access to healthy, locally-grown foods and nutrition education. The ribbon cutting will be from 3 to 5 p.m. at the new facility, located at 2705 E. Euclid Ave.
