Chef and restaurateur George Formaro will open a new East Village restaurant this summer. Zombie Burger + Drink Lab, named after the entrepreneur’s love of hamburgers and horror movies, will offer carryout and full-service dining in the e300 building at East Fourth Street and Grand Avenue. “We have serious restaurants. It’s time to be playful,” Formaro said in a release. “If I wasn’t a chef, I’d be a horror movie makeup artist.” The restaurant will operate seven days a week and stay open until 4 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Formaro is a chef-partner in a number of Des Moines restaurants, including Django, Centro and Gateway Market. He is partnering with Paul Rottenburg and Jeremy Reichart, both with Orchestrate Management & Associates, on the new venture.
